God’s Correction

 

Because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

• Proverbs 3:12

 

“Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.

• Job 5:17-18

 

Blessed is the one you discipline,  O Lord, the one you teach from your law; you grant them relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.

• Psalm 94:12-13

 

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
